Synopsis:

RAW SILK is a reality-talent competition that follows thirteen fashion designers who have amazing talent but zero opportunity to be recognized. The season sees these hopefuls going head to head with each other to see which of them is the right material to be the next fashion designer extraordinaire, hence the name RAW SILK.

We take raw talent and transform it into a well-packaged designer with a bright future. The series aims to unearth amazing talent whose ideas and creativity will shape the future of fashion, not only the country but possibly universally. These are designers who will create trends to be followed and defy rules by inventing new approaches to fashion and design.

Every week the designers meet a client who gives them a brief and they have to interpret that brief by producing a garment that will be judged by three judges on the day of the showcase.

RAW SILK is a Fashion Reality show on SABC 1 hosted by Pearl Modiadie. In the first season our judges are Ole Ledimo, Yasmin Furmie and Nthato Mashishi.
